Intermediate Certificate in Wines and Spirits

Aimed at:

Beginners, no specific entry requirements

The WSET® Intermediate qualification, taught in 8 sessions or 3 full days, is a must for all those requiring a sound but simple knowledge of wines and spirits to underpin skills and competences in their jobs or hobbies. There is both a theoretical and a practical approach to the study material. The qualifiaction provides answers to the most common questions on wine, based on the contemporary world of wine and trends in the wine industry.

Qualification objectives:

  • Wine making and other factors that influence wine styles
  • Characteristics of the principal white and red grape varieties
  • The key wine-producing regions of the world
  • Sparkling, sweet and fortified wines
  • Spirits and Liqueurs
  • Food and wine matching
  • The WSET® Systematic Approach to wine tasting

Assesment:

The Level 2 Certificate will be assessed by a WSET® Awards-set closed-book examination paper comprising 50 multiple-choice questions. Upon succesful completion of these questions, candidates will receive the internationally approved WSET® Intermediate Certificate.
You can attend the level 2 courses with no obligation to take the exam. If you do decide to take it, you can sign up for it afterwards.
