WSET® courses and qualifications

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust is an international  wine education institute that offers  classes At WineWise we offer 4 levels of WSET® courses, maintaining  the high WSET® standards  for  programmes, study packs and tutors.  

Entry Level

WSET® Level 1 - Foundation Certificate

This entry level qualification provides a straightforward introduction to wine and wine tasting. It is a one day course, aimed at  staff in the hospitality and retail sectors, and for other groups by request.  

Basic course

WSET® Level 2 - Intermediate Certificate

This wine and spirits qualification offers broad coverage of all categories in the field of wine and spirits, including basic wine tasting technique. Among the topics covered are  the major grape varieties and the wines they make, the major wine producing countries around the world, wine making and tasting. The course is offerd as a daytime course (3 days) or evening class (8 sessions) 

Advanced course

WSET® level 3 - Advanced Certificate

This level builds on the knowledge gained in Level 2, providing a more comprehensive coverage of the wide range of wines, viticulture, vinification and wine regions around the world, with an increased focus on analytical wine tasting techniques. It is the ideal course to follow on after earning the Intermediiate Certificate and is aimed at the advanced wine professional and enthousiasts. This course is offered as a daytime course (5 days + examination training) or evening classes (14 sessions + examination training) 

Highest  level

WSET® Level 4 - Diploma Course

The Diploma is a specialist qualification at the highest level in Belgium. It is aimed at candidates having a thorough grounding  in wine and spirits. This is a top level course where detailed knowledge of wine and spirits is linked to commercial requirements, providing  a  comprehensive  system for the professional evaluation of wines and spirits. It is taught by an international team of Masters of Wine. The languange of instruction for all sessions and exams is English. The Diploma course enjoys international recongnition and is mandatory for those seeking to attempt the Master of Wine courses.

 The organisation of the Diploma Course is a collaboration between WineWise and  Frank Smulders Wijneducatie (NL). The current location is at the conference centre Den Rooy in Meerle (B).
