WINEFUTURE – RIOJA 2009
Some of the world’s most influential wine writers and educators will be coming to Rioja this fall. WineFuture-Rioja 2009 is an international conference created and owned by The Wine Academy of Spain. The conference, supported by the Consejo Regulador de la Denominación de Origen Calificada Rioja (CRCD Rioja), will be held in the city of Logroño on November 12th and 13th, 2009. Attending will be Robert Parker, Jancis Robinson, Oz Clarke, Steven Spurrier, Kevin Zraly, Robert Joseph, Mel Dick, Dan Jago and Troy Christensen. They’ll be discussing the current challenges that the global wine industry is facing, providing solutions, ideas, strategies and leadership. Topics that will be covered include the global financial crisis, the environment, improving sales, consumption trends, challenges facing the on-trade, brands, marketing strategies and emerging markets.

European Academy of Wine Education

The European Academy of Wine Education (EAWE) focuses on issues of international relevance in the field of wine education by building an international network of exchange and cooperation amongst wine educators from all over Europe and around the globe.

Women and Wine!

In January 2009, WineWise started a new Top course and "again" there are 0 % Belgian women, while our Dutch collegues subscribe with 50% women. Time to do something about it!

The first five Diploma Course graduates from Winewise and Frank Smulders Wijneducatie, have obtained the title of WINEAKADEMIKER on september 26th 2008. With a live eludication versus the professors Klaus Schaller and Monika Christmann, and the Masters of Wine Josef Shuller and Frank Smulders, the applicants Pedro Ballesteros, Derek Koch en Sybille Troubleyn from Belgium and the Dutch Natalja Eggen en Martin Derksen concluded an additional thesis after graduating for the Diploma Course. A top prestation!

12 Spanish Iconic wines in the spotlights

$\"Tasting$ On november 11th 2008, wine professionals and enthousiasts attended a tasting of 12 iconic wines of the Spanish wine industry. The top wines of different regions and styles were tasted and commented by the Masters of Wine Pancho Campo and Frank Smulders.

Spanish Wine Educators Course

$\"$ On november 9th, 10th and 11th 2008, the Antwerp conference center 't Elzenveld was the setting for an intensive course on Spanish Wines. The only recently promoted and first Spanish Master of Wine Pancho Campo accepted the WineWise invitation to teach his two day Spanish Wine Educators Course. Main purpose of this course: educate true Ambassadors for Spanish Wines.

$\"Climate$ It is nearly undenyable, our climate is changing at an ever increasing rate. With important influences, even in the wine industry. From new plantations to the transport of the finished products, every step of wine production has an influence on the changes in the climate or is influenced by it. Master of Wine Pancho Campo, an expert in the field, came to Antwerp on November 9th and presented his research and that of several other specialists.

Course for Sherry Educators in Jerez

The “Consejo Regulador” of the Designation of Origin Jerez-Xerez-Sherry organized an intensive course, on October 4th and 5th, to form “Sherry Educators”.
